Marking a major milestone in India’s renewable energy sector, Gujarat-based H&H Aluminium Pvt. Ltd. has officially launched India’s largest and most advanced aluminium solar frame manufacturing facility in village Chibhda, Rajkot. The plant, inaugurated by Shri C. R. Patil, Hon’ble Union Minister of Jal Shakti, is poised to transform the domestic solar infrastructure landscape by significantly reducing import dependency.
24,000 MT Annual Capacity to Power 6 GW Solar Installations
With a production capacity of 24,000 metric tonnes (MT) per annum, the state-of-the-art plant is capable of supporting up to 6 GW of solar panel installations annually. Built over 28,000 square metres, the facility is equipped with SCADA and IoT-enabled production lines, real-time monitoring systems, a zero-liquid discharge anodising setup, and a dedicated R&D lab for product customisation.
Investment of ₹150 Crore & Employment for Over 300 People
Developed with an investment of ₹150 crore, the Rajkot unit is expected to generate annual revenues of ₹700–750 crore at full capacity and create employment for over 300 people. Trial production began in June 2025, and full-scale commercial operations are scheduled to commence shortly.
“This is India’s largest solar panel aluminium frame plant at a single location, completed in a record time of about a year. We’re grateful to the state government for its unwavering support,” said Mr. Uttam Patel, Director, H&H Aluminium Pvt. Ltd.
Boost to 'Make in India': Reducing 90–95% Import Dependency
Currently, India imports nearly 90–95% of its aluminium solar panel frames, mainly from China. The Rajkot facility is a strategic step under the Make in India initiative, aiming to boost indigenous manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.
“Our goal is to match and eventually exceed the quality offered by global suppliers. To achieve this, we’ve sourced the most advanced aluminium extrusion presses and anodising lines from China, as they are currently not manufactured in India,” Patel added.
The company will source raw aluminium primarily from NALCO and BALCO, consuming about 2,000 tonnes of aluminium ingots per month once fully operational.
Government Policy Support: Anti-Dumping Duty on Imports from China
In support of domestic manufacturing, the Government of India imposed an anti-dumping duty in September 2024, ranging from $403 to $577 per MT (approx. 14%) on imports of anodised aluminium frames from China for a period of five years. This move is expected to provide a level playing field for Indian manufacturers like H&H Aluminium.
“The government’s decision came after we had already invested in land and machinery. We were confident the policy environment would align with our vision,” said Patel.
Eco-Conscious & Globally Compliant Products
H&H Aluminium’s solar frames comply with ASTM and IEC international standards, ensuring high strength, weather resistance, and long-term durability. They are also RoHS and REACH compliant, free from hazardous substances, and 100% recyclable, making them a sustainable choice for global solar module manufacturers.
